Avion Odyssey Mural Project for WEAR Garden
Horst & Anna Wagener WEAR Garden Avian Odyssey Mural in the Chicago neighborhood of Andersonville is located near the entrance of Rosehill Cemetery at 5800 N Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL.
The mural, spanning over 50 feet wide by 20 feet high, was designed by Cheri Lee Charlton in collaboration with the Illinois Audubon Society who developed the theme of migration, reflecting Chicago’s rich history of being a city of migrants. The three separate mural panels each represent birds that migrate from the south, the north and those indigent to the area.
Cheri drew inspiration from the natural elements surrounding WEAR Garden. She used imagery of local flora and fauna, in hope to remind visitors of the importance of preserving our environment and nurturing our connection to nature.
The WEAR community also came together to raise the necessary funds to create this stunning new neighborhood asset along with the support from the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and the local paint store JC Licht who donated all the base paints needed for this project.
